Arrested Development Lives On.

Just heard on The Ticket: ENews that Showtime has picked up Arrested Development for 26 more episodes. I can't tell you how glad I am to hear this news - I think Arrested Development may be the best written show ever on TV. It looks like Showtime is trying to give HBO a run for it's money. Has anyone ever checked out Weeds? Heard that it's pretty good, but haven't got to see it - my p's are big fans oddly enough. Here's a link to the story.

Houston Weekend

Thanks to all the Houstonites, past and present for showing us a good time this weekend.

Jeff Tweedy Live in Chicago 1-25-06.

Here's a link to a show that Jeff Tweedy played in Chicago in mid-January at a benefit concert. The quality of this show is stellar considering that it was just a crowd recording... enjoy. The mp3s are grouped into three .zip files. The Accuff-Rose and Summerteeth are particularly good. I would have loved to been there... sounds like everyone in the audience was a big fan of Wilco, Tupelo, etc. Lots of singing along to some of his more obscure songs. Also, he plays a couple songs from his yet to be released new Loose Fur album.
Download the show:
Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3
Here is the setlist:
01. Intro
02. The Ruling Class
03. < sound system problems, banter >
04. Summerteeth
05. Was I In Your Dreams?
06. Bob Dylan's 49th Beard
07. Please Tell My Brother
08. Blasting Fonda
09. Pieholden Suite
10. Is That The Thanks I Get?
11. Airline To Heaven
12. I'm The Man Who Loves You
13. Heavy Metal Drummer
14. New Madrid

16. Someday Soon
17. A Shot In The Arm
18. Hoodoo Voodoo
19. Henry And The H-Bombs
20. Theologians
21. Spiders (Kidsmoke)

Hammond Takes the Stage.

Our old buddy and ex-prez, Matt Hammond has a new blog. I recommend everybody head that way and check it out... especially if you plan on buying any small packaged goods anytime soon. Just kidding Hammond - I dig the blog... like your plan on just reviewing everything. It is also nice to know that I can now cancel my subscription to GamePro magazine. "You've a captivated me, you've got the job, what's your tipper?" I was about to start looking through my old Tops pics for a shot of Hammond, then I realized the an ex-student body president will def. be Google-able, which is how I found these two gems. Glad you got to see you like Voxtrot, they came through Dallas a couple weeks ago, but they went on at midnight on a Tuesday night and I didn't have it in me - I do really like that EP though. It is available on itunes store and it's only like $4 - people should buy it.
Here is a link to a live recording of my favorite song on the album.

The Fraser's Edge Rock Traxx - 1

I am starting something new - basically every once and a while I am going to post a song that I think particularly rocks... eventually forming one kick ass compilation of Rock Traxx - here is the first installment. Feel free to burn 'em and trade with your friends. For those of you who aren't too computer savvy - you can right click (on a mac, it's Option + click) to download the linked mp3 to your hard drive. This first one is pretty great - Bonnie Prince Billy and Tortoise covering an old Springsteen track.

Americans Demand to Win Everything.

It's about midnight and for some reason I am sitting at my computer checking blogs and oddly enough listening to the album Dave Matthews Band "Crash". Was perusing some Doves albums and accidentaly clicked on this album and kinda let it keep rollin... up to "Drive In Drive Out" right now - which I used to dig BIG TIME. As much as I kinda have dismissed Dave Matthews, I still have a bit of a soft spot for it. Maybe it is because it was pretty much the main thing I listened to when I first got to college. The Castillian loved itself some Dave Matthews - at any point in a day you could roam a hall and you were guaranteed to hear Dave coming out of a room. Those were some good times... Just went back to listen to #41 for a second time... that's it. Speaking of #41 - there was this dude that used to live at my old apartment complex and his car (late model 3 series silver Beamer) had a license plate that read DMB 41. This guy was instantly branded a tool although I hadn't ever seen him... until one day. So I am rolling down to work one morning in mid-Febuary on my bike - back in the day I used to ride my bike to work, it was kinda fun and I could get to work door-to-door in 6 minutes flat. So this guy pulled up next to me at the stop light and I look at him and he is kinda snickering at me for riding my bike I guess... as he pulls away I see that HE IS THE DMB 41 GUY!... I couldn't believe it, this overweight Mauji Jim wearing dork with vanity DMB plates is laughing at me! AAARGH! What a loser. The original purpose of this post was going to be the Winter Olympics and how I have finally realized that it doesn't matter if we do well or not, there is no reason we should have the best ski jumper/luger/hockey team in the world - maybe I will delve into that sometime soon... Definitely need to put up an Olympics post before they are over.

One Bad Bitch.

This machine is definitely over the top - having an H2 in the first place is just above having Herpes on the cool scale in my opinion... yet I still think this is kinda cool in a round about way I guess. This machine would look great valeted outside Mi Cocina in West Village.

Eagle*Seagull Tonight @ The Cavern

One of my favorite bands of the moment is Eagle*Seagull. They are still pretty under the radar - but a lot of critics are comparing them to Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire. I don't really think that they sound like either band, the only thing they have in common with these band is being really, really good. They are playing tonight at The Cavern, but I don't think they are going on until 10 30 or 11 00. The price of admission is only $6 and the Cavern is pretty small - so it will be an intimate gathering. If anyone wants to go - gimme a call. Alright - I found some links to couple of their songs - they are both great. Highly recommended.

Just ran across this little gem while perusing Andrew's myspace page. Read the About Me section - pretty good stuff. What is the deal with the MySpace these days - I kinda had the impression that is was only for college kids and the like... come to find out half the people I know have profiles up. What is the shelf life? - I'll give it 4 months. Phil, The Thrill's MySpace

A Blog is Reborn.

Earlier today It's A Blog Eat Blog World was shot, and since died. At that very moment Stay Classy Dallas was born. The spirit of Blog Eat Blog will continue on with Stay Classy... but with a sharper look, more features, and more blogs. We are embarking into uncharted territory. It's been pret-tay, pret-tay, pret-tay long since I've blogged - that last blog was in September. I don't really watch the OC anymore...
