Grow Cube Puzzle.

If anyone can figure this out, you are a smarter/more patient individual than myself. This is strangely addictive. The picture above is the farthest (is it "farthest" or "furthest"?) I could get... I am looking to a certain law student with a ton of time on his hands to figure it out.

Shalissa turns 26 today.

I was at first just going to post a picture of Shane and Meliss for their birthday, but then I thought it would better to a Conan style "what if they mated?" comp. This is just creepy if you ask me. Happy Birthday Meliss and Shane.

The Man Who Conquered the Great Wall.

I recommend that everyone head to the links section of SCD and check out Bill's blog. He's been posting a ton of blogs on his exploits through China recently, and they are awesome... There are also some great photographs of the Great Wall of China and all kinds of other things Chinese.

Horns in the Elite 8!

The game last night was incredible - what a shot by Paulino, can't believe he made that... Wish we would have kept the lead that we held in the first half... but I'll take the win. LSU next... they looked pretty good - Tyrus Thomas is a dominate force inside, it will be a good game. One game away from the Final Four....
Here's a link to the write up of the game on TexasSports.com - Paulino's buzzer-beater lifts Men's Basketball to Elite Eight

Ohh... I'm so glad to hear you finally say that...

This is hilarious... you gotta love how Will Farrell can enter a sketch that is kinda slow and make it hilarious. Definitely lost it the first time I saw this - probably one of the funnier things he did on the show. Horatio Sanz can be barely keep it together.

Andrew Bird Black Session

I have been listening to Andrew Bird a lot lately - found this boot online a couple weeks ago and highly reccomend everyone download it and check it out. Especially if you haven't heard him before. His voice kinda sounds like Jeff Buckley's, but the rhythm of his vocals are kinda like Jack Johnson. Probably sounds kinda weird, but I highly recommend it-

T.O.

Terrell Owens is officially a Cowboy - and he's already written a rap song about it. Check it out at Terrell Owens' website. It's pretty ridiculous.

Bob Maplethorpe... potential getaway driver, GO!

"I'm a risk taker. I'm growing an entire crop of marijuana plants in my parent's back yard." Some of the Longhorn faithful Punchers were in town this past weekend for the Tournament and fun. Saturday was a day of debauchery for some of the more hardcore basketball fans... namely Grief, Cody, Settineri, and Andy who spent the afternoon at the MAT. At the MAT they ran into some older Delts, namely J Rog and Mayo... and who did they have with them? None other than Bob Maplethorpe! For people out there who are unfamiliar with Bob Maplethorpe - you first need to climb out from under your rock, and then go rent Bottle Rocket. Sadly, I was not there to witness this - showed up too late. But I def. heard about it when I arrived. Of course by this time Grief was rockin' the glass eyes, and he yelled at me 6 times "You missed Bob!" before he followed up with Maplethorpe, he then proceeded to eat half of Adriana's french fries after meeting her 10 minutes earlier. Cody (who loves Bottle Rocket more than anyone) said that he couldn't even look at Bob - fear of bursting into laughter. Pretty cool sighting...

"I been through some pretty heavy shit myself. If your feeling alone, like nobody in the world cares and nobody in the world gives a shit, then I'm here. I'm ready to listen, man. If you want I'll even open up first. My brother (Futureman) - - That's a shit situation. He beats the crap out of me all the time." - Bob Maplethorpe

Belle & Sebastian @ Granada tonight.

Any you D-Wheelers hanging out tonight with not much going on, you should try to make a last ditch effort at checking out the Belle & Sebastian show with the New Pornographers... even if you are not very familiar with their music, you will have a great time and enjoy yourself immensely. I think it sold out last week, but I am sure there will be some tickets floating around outside Granada.

Blog Check In

Thought I would check in on the old blog... I've been in LA the past few days and have had limited access to the internet. Lots to talk about though... especially with the Tournament kicking off this weekend. It's going to be a cool weekend in Dallas with all the Tourney action going on. Headed back to Dallas tomorrow - will get back in on some posts tomorrow. Shane was a great host, and it was great to see Ryan and Carrie. Looking forward to a fun weekend... see you guys back in Dallas.

Neil Young on The Daily Show.

Neil Young one of my favorite musicians of all time. He was on the Daily Show recently which you can check it out here. He talks about his new concert doc Heart of Gold, which I haven't got to see yet, but am def. looking forward to it. I've heard that it's great... some have even been so daring to say that it surpasses The Last Waltz. Headed out to LA this afternoon to see the Shaner for the weekend... just two who are having a good time, having a good time...

Happy Birthday ET!

Today is Erin's 24th birthday. Erin enjoys West Coast Rap, all things Riverdance, white jeans and Aquaerobics. Everyone please pour out a little liquor and celebrate Easy-E's birthday.

Faunts - High Expectations/Low Results

If you like really atmospheric, understated music then you should check out this Faunts album. I don't really know much about the band, I just purchased it after listening to the song below on another blog. I really like it already. They are apparently from Edmonton and this is their first release. It is kind of like Sigur Ros I guess, but more poppy. The sample mp3 below is more poppy than the rest of the album. It's really nice - you can purchase it from the itunes store.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! on Letterman

Check out Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! on Letterman here.

Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett Dies at age 45.

Kirby Puckett passed away yesterday at the age of 45 following a massive stroke. Obviously he was a legendary player of the game and was one of my Leaders growing up. This news kind of struck me yesterday when I heard it... Kirby was a great role model to kid growing up. He seemed more like a normal guy than a pro... he was kinda round, kina short... he proved that anyone can become great. He was always smiling and seemed to realize how fortunate he was that he was doing what he loved for a living. Kirby took the Twins to two World Series Titles and was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2001... His lifetime batting average was .318, he hit 207 home runs and 1,085 RBIs. He played in 10 consecutive All-Star games and won six Golden Gloves.

Racism vs. Homosexuality: And It's Racism by a Nose!

Watching the Oscars last night, I realized that the Oscars suck... or maybe they just sucked last night. It was just kinda boring - and stayed that way, didn't really pick up much momentum at all. I was pretty dissapointed by Jon Stewart's performance. I don't know what happened, how can someone be so witty 5 days a week and then just bomb on a national stage? Those campaign commercials that were done by Steven Colbert were pretty good though, I guess. Even though the Oscars were pretty boring, I was glad to see Crash take home best picture. In my opinion it was the best movie I saw this past year.

Jason Collett

Like many other gifted musicians, Jason Collett is a part of the great musical collective, Broken Social Scene. He has released a solo album recently "Idols of Exile" - I just got a hold of it and I can't stop listening to it. I don't know what it is, but it seems like everything that comes out of the Broken Social Scene camp I completely love. Between this album, the Stars album, the Feist album and, of course the Broken Social Scene album - you've got 4 amazing albums, and probably 4 out of the top 7 albums that I have heard in the past few months... Those Canucks(sp?) must have something in their water. Here are a couple samples off the album.
