Matisyahu = Memorial Weekend Anthems.

I've heard murmurs about this guy in the past, but just wrote it off as a bit. But no - this is the real deal. Thanks to Jenkins for showing me the err of my ways. I tried to find some samples of his Live at Stubbs album - but found this show instead...the quality is pretty good, good enough for you to download it. If you like it, you should buy his Live at Stubbs album - even better.

Regina Spektor

I have been listening to Regina Spektor constantly for the past couple days... amazing. She is from Russia but lives in Brooklyn, and she has done some work with The Strokes. If you like Leslie Feist, you will like this. The album doesn't come out until June 13th, but there are four pre-release tracks available from iTunes. She has an amazing voice - super talented. Here is a sample, everybody should check it out - easy for anyone to like.

New Wilco Track.

I don't know much about this song, but I thought I would pass it on. When it opens up in iTunes, the album name says Gilmore Girls songs - so I guess it's a song off the Gilmore Girls.

Da-Vinci Code F*ck Yeah!

I will definitely be seeing this sometime this weekend - I have been working on my giant Rosetta Stone costume for 3 weeks... who's coming with me?

More Newsroom Blunders!

This one is pret-tay, pret-tay, pret-tay bad... but it's great!

TV Sings!

Last night the recent LA-transplant and LH alum, Taylor Veiger had his Dallas debut before a packed house at the Lakewood Bar and Grill. Taylor was unplugged and in fine form - his style kinda reminds me of a mix of Ashley Parker Angel and the guy from Nickelback - and it totally ROXXX! Haha! In all seriousness though - he does sound a lot like Jeff Buckley, which is not too shabby. This picture was taken seconds before Taylor projectile-spit blood all over the crowd, then jumped down into the audience and plunged his vampire fangs into the neck of a slightly overweight middle-aged woman in the front row. It was awesome! The fun stopped when a biker, who was playing pool next to the stage, took his pool cue and broke it across Taylor's back, then plunged the rest of his cue through Taylor's chest, blood and fire shot out everywhere. What a Thursday!

Austin City Limits 2006.

Just got ahold of the unofficial line-up for the upcoming Austin City Limits Festival... looks like it's going to be a pretty good time. I got this from a contributer to the Observer, which would lead one to believe that it is pretty legit. There are a lot of great bands that I haven't got to see yet - Iron and Wine, The Shins, Gnarls Barkley, Wolf Parade, Centro-Matic, and Okkervil River. Galactic is always fun as well. Also wanna check out Ted Leo. Judging by last year's effort by the group to get to the festival at a reasonable time, I am already going to forecast that I am going to miss half of these shows.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, Massive Attack, String Cheese Incident, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, the Flaming Lips, Jose Gonzales, John Mayer, the Raconteurs, the Shins, Ween, Los Lonely Boys, Gnarls Barkley, Cat Power and the Memphis Rhythm Band, Secret Machines, Gomez, Kathleen Edwards, Wolf Parade, Jack Ingram, Sparklehorse, Stars, Feist, Thievery Corporation, Ben Kweller, G. Love and Special Sauce, Matisyahu, Damien Rice, Kings of Leon, Iron & Wine, Kasey Chambers, Aimee Mann, Nickel Creek, Damian Marley, Calexico, the New Pornographers, Son Volt, Guster, Galactic, KT Tunstall, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Centro-matic, Marah, Nada Surf, I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness…, Okkervil River, the Black Angels, Explosions in the Sky, Sara Hickman, Elvis Perkins Trish Murphy, Asleep at the Wheel and about 50 others acts!

BBC Interview Snafu.

Heard this on the Ticket this morning, and it is greatness. The BBC was supposed to do an interview with the editor for Newswireless.net, somehow this editor's cab driver was grabbed instead of him for the interview - his face is priceless when the interview starts and they call him the editor of this technology website. I like how he just rolls with it... and not make any sense at all.

Number Two Asshole : Me for forgetting to post my Dad's birthday yesterday.

Happy 51st Birthday Dad. I don't have a photo with me, but here is pretty much what he looks like. This weekend, he and my uncle T Joe are having the 2nd annual Fraser/Shirley crawfish boil at the Bay - looking forward to it. Nothing better than shreddin' some wakes while blaring "Drops of Jupiter" or "Meet Virginia" from the boat. "Eh - I could take it or leave it... sure is a lot of work" - my Grandpa at the last crawfish boil when I asked him what he thought about his first crawfish.

Number One Asshole : This Guy!

It is amazing what passes as entertainment these days. This has to be the most unentertaining thing I have ever seen on the web, and maybe ever seen in general. I couldn't even make it all the way through... I wonder if this guys still has any friends. This guy needs a beer in the face, and Chuck Norris boot heel in his throat. The sorta funny thing is I saw this clip a couple days ago on another blog (and instantly labeled it "the grossest thing I have ever seen"), then this morning it was sent to me by my mom. Come on mom.

Centro-matic : Fort Recovery

This album has not left my changer for the past month or so. The best album I have heard this year - so far. This little snippet is just a taste of what the rest album has to offer. Plus he's from Denton I think, now records in Austin.
Centro-Matic - Covered Up In Mines
Centro-Matic - Patience For The Ride

Looks like the King and Brooke Burke are on the outs!

Thought this was a pretty clever advertising/marketing ploy... I like the generic candids on a yacht. Greatness. Burger King is making a big push towards getting some cool cred... is it working or not? I know everyone dug the King football clips... That's right, I just used three different sets of ellipses.

You Must Smell Like Feet Wrapped In Leathery Burnt Bacon.

I am kinda late on the Robot Chicken bandwagon, but it is quickly turning into my favorite show on Adult Swim. This one is nothing short of greatness.

New Radiohead Tracks!

Radiohead's new album is slated to come out some time this year, but who knows. They haven't really released much info on it. Here are a couple of new tracks that Thom and Johnny debuted at a charity benefit they did last month. I think they kinda give you somewhat of an idea of what the new album will be like. I am stoked. I think I am going to try to catch one of these shows this summer - anyone else down? Check out the songs below. This BodySnatchers track is pretty good I guess. They will probably all be completely different by the time the album comes out.
Radiohead - BodySnatchers
Radiohead - Arpeggi
Radiohead - Cymbal Rush
